Key Stage 5 Science
A levels in OCR Biology, Chemistry and Physics are offered to students who have achieved at least B grades at GCSE Science and who wish to further their studies in science. In each subject we aim to broaden and deepen students' knowledge and understanding as well as develop the standard of their practical and scientific skills. Students are encouraged to work more independently and analyse all research, information and data critically.
All three subjects are taught by specialist subject teachers over 9 lessons per fortnight. Each subject is assessed by examinations in January and June as well as the completion of Practical Tasks during their lessons. Pupils are encouraged to realise the value of independent learning and as such homework and revision tasks are set on a regular basis.
We aim to supplement the curriculum and allow students to gain insight into the world of science through University visits, extra-curricular opportunities and guest speakers.
